AMERICAN MUSIC HISTORY COURSE

Online Course: Welcome

TEACH AMERICAN MUSIC HISTORY

Enrich your classroom with an innovative curriculum exploring the history of America's diverse cultures and musical art forms in the context of major historical events as students build a timeline of American music.

Our American Music History curriculum for middle school or high school classrooms is an 18-lesson online series detailing the history of American roots music in conjunction with American history. All of our lessons integrate lectures, video content, music, storytelling, geography, and history. Students learn to recognize different genres of American music and important contributions to American culture from diverse pioneers throughout history. Each lesson inspires critical thinking, cultural understanding, and appreciation for music.

The program is complete with teacher guides, specific learning objectives, project-based learning activities, and higher-order thinking questions for discussion. The concept-based curriculum is in line with California State Standards for social studies and visual and performing arts providing historical and cultural context.
